The slide guitar part to this song is in Open E Tuning. What this means is that once we retune the guitar to Open E we will be able to strum all 6 strings without fretting any notes and it will ring out an E chord. Pretty darn cool if you ask me. So in order to achieve an Open E tuning you will want to tune the guitar like this.
In the big picture, using a linear or re-entrant tuning doesn’t make much of a difference for study because the note names come out the same no matter what. All chord diagrams and lessons are universal for this reason. Songs and tabs that show notes on the D-string, however, can get convoluted with linear and re-entrant.
Default tuning is standard (C) tuning being GCEA. The second quick tuning is English (D) tuning (ADF#B) which is 2 frets (1 step) higher than the standard tuning. Finally also the standard tuning for baritone ukuleles (G tuning, DGBE) is supported. This is the same tuning as the first four strings of a standard guitar.
Sep 13, 2020 · To play this chord, you’re going to want to make your standard D major chord (2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the 4th string and 4th finger on the 2nd fret of the 1st string) and move your 4th finger up a string. This will leave that 1st string open (adding the C to the D major chord). If you’d like to explore this track more, take a look here.

May 18, 2018 · It made it a little bit more foreign to me, which enabled me to come up with some cooler idea that I’d been coming up with most recently. So, if you’re not familiar with how Open E tuning actually works, basically you’re just tuning up your third, fourth and fifth strings. Your sixth, first and second strings stay the exact same as normal.
